3 Current Exhibits

Hello, friends! I am grateful to have pieces in 3 exhibits in Philadelphia this month:

Philadelphia Black History at City Hall

My portrait of Robert Shair White, originally created for the Souls Shot Portrait Project , is one of 44 pieces on display at City Hall through April 12th. This exhibit, “Philadelphia Black History: The People’s Stories”, was organized by the City of Philadelphia Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy: “Each installation is a tribute to a Black Philadelphian who has passed away and whose memory has been elevated through art. They are the stories of family and community members, some more well known than others, but all contributed to the history of the African American experience in Philadelphia.”

Feeling Blue: Navigating Challenges through Art

This drawing, titled “The Things John Berger Can’t See” was accepted into the Abington Art Center’s annual juried show. This year the theme is “Feeling Blue”:

Artists often explore art as a tool for articulating emotions and navigating difficult circumstances. Art plays a vital role in society; it acts as a means for people to process the world around them and channel their response into tangible work for others to look at, interpret, and resonate with. We have all found ourselves in difficult situations, whether it be overcoming obstacles or dealing with something unprecedented, and artists are no strangers to this. Like Picasso with his Blue Period, artists use artwork as a way to navigate the complex emotions that arise from challenges, whether deeply personal or universally shared. The selected works highlight art’s healing power in the face of adversity.

On display in the Kellner, Book Room, and Tile galleries from March 8 – April 15, 2024, with an opening reception on 3/8 from 6-8pm.

Spring Exhibit at The Resource Exchange

These 2 mixed media pieces, “Neglect” and “Grief”, are featured in The Resource Exchange’s Spring show at their reCreate Gallery, on display from March - May, 2024.

There will be an opening reception on Saturday, March 9th from 5 - 8pm.
